The accommodation is excellent, clean, beautifully decorated. Freshly prepared large tasty breakfasts. Location could not be bettered, minutes walk from the town centre & included on site parking.A lovely landlady who also bakes delicious cakes.

It’s our 2nd time staying at Wordsworth and we was just as happy as last time… it’s absolutely spotless and you get welcomed from the start lovely hosts and we also met lovely guests.

Recently stayed here and would definitely recommend, in a great location. Owners are very welcoming and cook a great breakfast, room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable.We will definitely return.

We came upon Wordsworths Guest House in 2019 when we travelled to Ambleside for our 20th Wedding Anniversary.We booked room 6 with the kitchenette as it took the pressure off trying to dine out each evening.When we thought about where to stay for our 25th we reflected on how pleasant a time we had had here and booked again.We received the same warm, friendly welcome.The room provided all the best comforts and flexibility we look for in our stays.We shall be back next year as it feels like a tradition we can look forward to.

Janet and Stuart are absolutely lovely hosts, so friendly and welcoming. There is home made cake you can help yourself to and a welcome glass of wine.Such nice touches. We stayed in the ‘suite’ with the separate seating area and kitchenette. The extra space and facilities were really useful for us and still extremely good value compared to other Ambleside prices. No compromise on the quality of the stay though, which was excellent all round. Really good view from our room of Wansfell Pike. The room was lovely, really nicely decorated, very comfy bed, extremely clean bathroom. All seemed very recently decorated and all was of a very high standard. Janet and Stuart were very accommodating with breakfast times which was excellent-fresh fruit, cereal, cooked options. Definitely recommend this B&B if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Ambleside.

This was our 3rd stay at Wordsworths Guest House and we were not disappointed.The accommodation is very high quality with lots of individual touches.The owners are warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble to make your stay the best it can be.The breakfast is excellent too.The location is great for the shops and restaurants in Ambleside.Highly recommended.

Janet’sguest house is superb. Rooms are beautifully appointed with lots of lovely finishing touches that you would expect in a high end hotel. Breakfast choices are varied and the quality is fabulous. Janet makes the most amazing cakes (which I now make too!!) which you can help yourself too along with a glass of wine.Nowadays with all the guest houses out there to choose from it’s the little touches the make all the difference and make you stand out. Janet’s little gem certainly does that and everything is 5 star. It is so fabulous we never stay anywhere else when we come to Ambleside.

This place is perfect for a stay over in Ambleside. Absolutely spotless and the owners are lovely. Breakfast was spot on and it was a nice touch to be offered a glass of wine and homemade cake on arrival. Overall a perfect stay.

We had an absolutely lovely 3-night stay! Our room was very comfortably furnished and stocked with thoughtful touches. It was wonderful to have the little seating area to relax in. The breakfasts were delicious and Janet was so attentive to ensuring we had everything we needed. Coming back in the afternoons to her selection of cakes was an added treat (as was getting to sit out in the garden and enjoy the beautiful flowers). The convenience for accessing the local laundrette and public transportation was also very helpful. We would highly recommend staying here and would love to come back!

Just back from a 2 night stay at Wordsworths Guest House. Fabulous stay, Janet made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Spotlessly clean with big comfy bed, quality toiletries and linen, and lovely furnishings. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Janet is very atentative and friendly. Well stocked tea/coffee in room, and wine and cake on arrival, such a lovely touch. The garden is well tended to, really nice to sit out. Wish we were there for longer and hope we can return to Ambleside again. Thank you Janet!

A pleasant relaxing stay. In the middleof a lot of the Lakes. The room and ensuite spotless. Dressing gowns, hairdryer, towels, water, tea, coffee and chocolate drinks. Even a glass of wine. The best choice of options for breakfast. Be careful you don't eat too much. Doris and Arthur

We have just had another lovely stay with Janet and family. The rooms are gorgeous,food perfect , hospitality is just perfect. Janet couldn't be any more helpful.We think of Janet as a good friend now.We will see you again.

We’ve been travelling up to the lakes for the Great North Swim since 2009 but this is our first stay here and oh my, how did we miss this little gem.The room was lovely, with tea making facilities and a fridge, small but very clean bathroom with a nice hot shower.Breakfast was lovely but it was all the little extras that made it for me.I am gluten and dairy feee for medical reasons and Janet had provided everything including flat jacks and brownies that met my requirements.They dried our swim gear and made us toast when we got back from the swim as we had missed breakfast.Just all round amazing hosts and we will be back to stay without a doubt.

Privat parking at back of house. Very tastefully and professionally decorated and fitted rooms. Welcome drink on arrival and excellent breakfast and friendly owner made the stay exceptionally pleasant.

A delightful property our room was exceptionally well appointed with everything you need . Amazing thought has been given to detail you have a great shower with lovely shampoo conditioner and shower gel. Fridge in room very comfortable bed beautifully decorated . We have complimentary wine and possibly the best cake available in the lakes sitting in the lovely garden ! Just a few mins walk from Windermere lake and the great tapas bar we went to in Ambleside . Really well connected by bus to other parts of the lakes !

Janet is a friendly, helpful and accommodating host. We stayed in the suite, which was spacious and immaculately clean. We had a lovely breakfast each morning and delicious homemade cakes were also available.

This was a 5 star experience for location, hospitality, comfort and attention to detail. We really had everything we needed in a clean, secure and beautifully decorated setting. I would highly recommend.

From arrival to departure we were well looked after. Our room was beautiful, clean and bright with fabulous amenities in the bathroom and a fridge in the room with milk and bottled water.A fabulous choice for breakfast, just as good as any hotel.Nowadays there are so many options for accommodation and I believe it’s the little special touches that make somewhere standout and Janet had this nailed.I won’t mention them as when you stay you will be surprised. I would call this a boutique B&B and would highly recommend. It was outstanding and we will certainly be back. Congratulations on running a special gem in Ambleside. We will be back soon.

Amazing B and B with a fantastic host. The b and b is beautiful and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. They go the extra mile and some, with home made cakes and drinks available to bathrobes in the room. The bed was really comfortable and the bedding was luxurious. Nothing is to much trouble, they even dried our wet clothes ready for the next day and made breakfast to order and met our preferences with food. Thank you so much it was a great stay and we will be back, louise and Ann.

Wow! We have just returned from a last minute break in Ambleside and we are so glad we booked Wordsworth Guest House. We were greeted with a warm welcome from Janet and we loved the wine and cake on offer. Our room was spotless and the bed was so comfy. Everything about our time at the Wordsworth was excellent. Room was exactly what we wanted, attention to detail was spot on and difficult to think of anypossible improvement. Breakfast was superb, excellent ingredients and very well cooked. Janet was a superb host making excellent suggestions as to where to go in Ambleside. My partner has considerable problems with her diet but she was so pleased at the time and trouble Janet went to on her behalf. No doubt we will be back if we are in that area again.

Janet and her family are so welcoming, and the Wordsworth Guesthouse was a lovely home from home for our few days in Ambleside. The rooms are clean and the beds are very comfy, with every detail thought of. The breakfasts were lovely too.I know I can vouch for the rest of my family on giving this 5 stars and highly recommending it as a place to stay when visiting the Lake District.

Our room (no. 6) was immaculate, very clean,well-equipped.and well-designed. The bed was comfy for us, and the breakfasts were very good indeed. Janet was a lovely, friendly host. Only a few minutes walk into the centre of Ambleside so it was great for eating out without having to drive, and the car parking at the rear meant if you did go further afield you had no worry about parking again on return. If we return to Ambleside we wouldn’t even look to stay anywhere else.

The rooms are very spacious, with comfy beds and pillows, a fridge and an amazing power-shower; topped with a choice of hot drinks.The location could not be better, neither could the breakfast and choice, which would set you up for the day. “Delicious.”Janet is both bubbly, professional and a walking guide should you need any local information.I would certainly give it 5 stars as all the above is encapsulated in a nice atmosphere and ambiance that resonates from your proprietor.“Thank-you for a lovely stay and amazing cakes.”

We have just returned from a fabulous three nights stay at Wordsworths guest house. We had the same room as our first visit, which was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We had a pleasant stay at Wordsworth's.The place is extremely neat, refreshing, located in the centre of Ambleside,yet very quiet and peaceful. We really enjoyed the breakfast too. Janet is a wonderful person and a very friendly and kind host.

After a cold and wet time camping staying here was just what we needed. It was so clean, bed was comfy, and new carpets in our room. The breakfast was delicious and Janet made us feel so welcome giving us tips on things to see and places to go. 10/10

Janet and Stuart go the extra mile and manage to think of a need, without us saying anything. This is our second visit to the 'Wordsworth Guest House' as we were completely blown away with the first visit. Janet (Owner) couldn't have been nicer if she tried, she kept Room 3 for us as this was the room that we stayed in on our last visit and nothing had changed, all round perfection. Once we got unpacked it was down to the patio in the garden were Janet provided us with wine and a selection of home made cakes, the Gingerbread and the Bakewell Slice went down a treat.Our breakfasts in the morning were out of this world, there was various cereals, yogurts, fruit juices etc followed by a range of cooked breakfasts which were perfect. Once again we couldn'tthank Janet enough for her kindness and hospitality, we will certainly look to stay there again in the near future and will certainly recommend the Wordsworth to friends and family. What a wonderful guesthouse. The owners, Stuart and Janet are so friendly and have thought of everything possible to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. Our twin room was spacious and decorated to a high standard – much better than some hotels. The breakfast is varied, with fresh fruit, cereals, yogurts and a full cooked breakfast to order. A bonus for this area is parking which is at the rear or the property. We will certainly return in the future.

My husband and I have just returned from a two night stay and have had a wonderful time. The guest house is beautifully appointed and Janet, the host, is warm and welcoming. There are small touches which sets this guest house apart from others. The house is spotless and comfortable and a wonderful breakfast is served too. Highly recommend.

Have stayed in numerous b and bs before. This was outstanding value. Very welcoming owner, refurbished room to a high standard, lots of extras not normally supplied and tasty freshly cooked breakfast. Car park at rear and few minutes walk into town.Tried to book again for early September but no availability. Hope to come back

Great stay at Wordsworths. Lovely room looking onto the fells and conveniently located to walk into town to the restaurants. Breakfast was very good with fresh fruit - melon, raspberries, etc- and I enjoyed the complimentary cake in the afternoon! Will come again soon I hope.

Wow this place has a lovely friendly atmosphere. Janet can’t do enough for us and made fresh cakes every morning for us to take on our walks. Breakfast was outstanding, fresh local produce . A real treat staying here . Have booked to come back next year .

Great location in Ambleside and the lake. Our room was very comfortable,spacious and very clean. Great accommodation complimentary cake wine and soft drinks on arrival bottled water and fresh milk in the fridge in room large bath towels Janet was an amazing friendly host couldn’t do enough for us ample cereals yoghurts juices etc hot breakfast deliciously cooked by Stewart small breakfast too much for us (that’s not a dig) can thoroughly recommend oh and south facing beautifully kept garden thank you for a pleasant two night stay !

Stayed over with my dad. Had a really good time. Host was very welcoming, complimentary wine in the evening with fantastic views from the back garden, comfortable room and beds.Would definitely stay again and recommend it.

This is a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are stylish and comfortable, clean and warm, and provide everything you could possibly need, including robes and slippers. My wife and I absolutely loved this guest house. Upon arrival we were offered complimentary wine and cake before being shown to our room. The room itself was lovely and spotlessly clean and contained everything we needed and more. The following morning we were treated to a delicious breakfast. We were absolutely delighted with everything about our weekend stay at Wordsworths, our first but certainly not our last. The warm and very informative welcome we received from Janet was much appreciated. We had booked a double, a twin and a single and we were very happy with our rooms. Prior to our visit, the booking process was excellent and the communication also. Parking great and wifi very strong. Highly recommended and I shall be returning as soon as possible! Stayed for a couple of nights to visit Ambleside. The guesthouse is in a perfect location, just 5 minutes from the centre. It is comfortable and clean and good value for the area. Our hosts were wonderful...breakfast was excellent with a good choice. Nice touch to have complimentary wine on arrival 😁

I am so pleased I booked Wordsworths Guest House for our short break in the Lake District. From the moment we arrived Janet made us feel as welcome as old friends. Our room was amazing - warm and comfortable and with everything we needed including a great view of the garden and nearby fells. There's plenty of parking and in fact we didn't move the car at all during our stay as there are glorious walks into the mountains just from the front door. All the shops and restaurants (in particular the Vegetarian paradises of Zeffirellis and Fellinis) you need are just a short walk away too, as is the pier for the Windermere boat cruises. A plentiful breakfast set us up perfectly for the day, and best of all Janet provides a seemingly inexhaustible supply of delicious cakes - I only hope we weren't too greedy! We struck really lucky with the weather too as a snow fall followed by bright sunshine made the whole area look absolutely stunning. All in all a wonderful and relaxing few days - which was just what we both needed.

Stayed here for two nights in a lovely freshly decorated room, very comfy super king size bed.Had a fridge in room with water provided.Breakfast was very tasty with locally provided produce and a good selection of fruit and cereals.Complementary wine and home cooked cakes was available throughout our stay.The guest house is very central,only a couple of minutes walk to the centre of Ambleside and the on site parking was a real bonus.Janet was very welcoming and friendly and always available.All in all a first class experience and we would definitely stay here again.

An excellent weekend staying at this guesthouse. Great parking at the rear and then a nice walk through the garden. On arrival Janet was there to meet us and offered us complimentary cake and wine. You could have that any day whilst there. A lovely room and comfortable beds. Both mornings a superb breakfast. Nothing was to much and always helpful if needed anything. Perfect location too with everything you needed a 5-10 minute walk away. Janet a brilliant host.

This was bought as a mini break for me by my wife for a recent birthday.We had previously stayed here back in November 2022 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and so decided to return again. The fact that we wanted to return so soon speaks volumes for how highly we rate this guesthouse. The hosts Janet and Stuart make you feel so welcome and cannot do enough for you. The rooms are lovely, as are the breakfasts and the guesthouse is centrally located in the heart of Ambleside. We will certainly return at some future point in time.

Everywhere was spotless, super room with a fab, comfy bed, which we haven't found very often, in the past. nothing was too much trouble. A very genuine, friendly lady. Definately will go back there! Stayed here for 2 nights to enjoy some of the high peaks in the snow with a pal of mine. This guest house added to our trip.. great welcome (free wine and cakes) and the room was modern, comfortable and very nicely decorated. The en-suite looked brand new! Janet and team cooked us a great full English breakfast each morning which was the perfect start for a day in the hills. The homemade flapjacks came in very handy too on the ascents! Free parking at the back of the property. Will definitely return. Thanks Janet for making us so welcome.

We were warmly welcomed by Janet with homemade cakes and wine and after a long day’s walk in the rain were glad to relax with a hot shower and a very comfy mattress.The guest house is just out of the centre of Ambleside but a few minutes walk saw us with a drink in the Lily.Parking is at the rear of the property and access gained through the garden from there.Our breakfast was well cooked and substantial and set us up nicely for the day ahead.All in all a most pleasant experience and one we would be happy to repeat nice time we are in the Lakes

We had a fabulous weekend here. Janet was very friendly, welcoming and always smiling. It was great to have the offer of free cake and tea/coffee/wine on arrival too! The rooms were spotless and very well-appointed with plenty of space for belongings and for relaxation. Breakfasts were excellent with lots of flexibility to account for individual preferences. Everything about our stay was perfect. Big comfy bed, good strong shower. Netflix and Prime Video. Janet was the perfect host. Free red and white wine! And brownies, and parkin, delicious. Very good breakfast. Everywhere spotlessly clean. We’ve stayed at many B&Bs in the Lakes over the past 20 years, none better than this one. Highly recommended.

My wife and I recently enjoyed a lovely weekend break for two nights at this lovely guesthouse in the heart of Ambleside. The owners, Stuart and Janet made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived with the offer of free cake and wine to the moment we left. The breakfasts are delicious and the room we stayed in was very well appointed and had everything we required. We would have no hesitation in returning again.

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Stuart welcomed us on arrival and helped us with our bags from the car. Our room was at the top of the house so not suitable for the less mobile but it was very clean and had everything you needed for a short stay. Unfortunately Janet was not around but we were able to sample her delicious home baking thanks to the selection of cakes that are on display for guests to enjoy. They even supply wine in the fridge to help yourself to a glass or two! The breakfasts were excellent and nothing was too much trouble including my dietary requirements. The guest house is centrally located with car parking which was so handy. We enjoyed the Lily Bar just down the road on both nights and the live music was excellent. Will definitely visit again and highly recommend.

My friend and I couldn't have had a more warm welcome, a lovelier room and a better stay! A delight from start to finish. Facilities in the room were 1st Class, Breakfast delicious and plentiful. I can honestly say that the ‘Wordsworth’ has got to be the best guest house that my wife and I have ever stayed in over our forty three years of marriage. On arrival we were met at the door by Janet (owner) who showed us to our room, which was room No: 3. The room itself had recently been re-furbished and was perfect, we had a large king sized bed which was very comfortable and there was new dressing gowns and slippers for us to use. Our new en-suite bathroom was well appointed with shower gel, conditioner, hand soap along with large fluffy white bath towels. Janet showed us to the dining room were she pointed out the offer of a free glass of wine along with a range of home made cakes which went down a treat later in the day. Breakfast was out of this world, she had various cereals, yogurts, fruit juices etc followed by a range of cooked breakfasts which were perfect. We couldn’t thank Janet enough for her kindness and consideration and we will certainly look to stay there again in the near future.

This little Gem of a B&B certainly is our happy place..My husband and I always return every time we visit the Lakes.. We always receive a warm welcome from Janet & Stuart whome are fabulous hosts and go out of their way to make your stay feel like home.Janet makes all her own cakes and these are on display for you to sample with a glass of wineperfect after a days walking.Stuarts breakfasts are absolutely scrummy too!!!Beds are super comfy, slippers & Robes provided, Nice hot shower, immaculate throughout..Love Love It !!

Very clean throughout and we had a lovely big room on the top floor. We had a fantastic two night stay at Wordsworth guest house. The room (room 6) was extremely clean and recently refurbished. The breakfast was amazing and Janet went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The complimentary wine and cakes were a lovely added extra. The chocolate brownies in particular were gorgeous! I would definitely stay there again when we visit Ambleside and recommend it to anyone else.

Arriving at Wordsworth guest house was like arriving at a friend’s! Home baking was displayed in the dining room and we were invited to help ourself to that and a glass of wine.The garden area was available to us and we sat there a couple of times, enjoying the sun and relaxing.The bedroom was the suite and everything was new and spotlessly clean. We arrived on the hottest day ever recorded and Janet had ordered new fans for the rooms.That worked really well and aided a good nights sleep.Breakfast was made to order and delicious!Thank you for a lovely stay!

We never tend to go back to the same place twice, but we have made an exception with the Wordsworth guest house and our next visit towards the end of June will be our third.Great accommodation and value for money, delicious breakfasts that even cater for a fussy vegan, but it is the attitude of the owners that keep us coming back for more. We were visiting the Lakes to take part in the Great North swim, so the free cake and wine were greatly appreciated. We had an early breakfast on the Sunday. Janet had kindly dried all our swimming kit in her boiler room. After the swim we had a shower in our room before a late checkout. It's these thoughtful additional touches that make this such a great place to stay.

This is the second time we have stayed at Wordsworths and we have to say that our expectations were met even more this time. Absolutely spotless guest house, lovely breakfast, comfy and spacious room and hosts who make you feel so welcome. We will be back again soon.

No driving around Ambleside looking for non-existent free parking! They certainly give value for money and our stay couldn't have been more enjoyable. Wordsworth's guest house was a delight to stay in, the owner Janet was an excellent host, the breakfast was excellent and wine and home made cake's available anytimeof day. The room was lovely, obviously recently refurbished, the bed was very comfortable and a nice view out to the back and a nice area to sit out overlooking the very pretty garden. This is always my first choice B&B. Janet is a perfect host, and makes the best flapjacks on earth! Complimentary cakes and drinks left in the dining room are a very welcoming touch. The room is cosy and absolutely immaculate. New bathrobes are an excellent touch. Single room faces away from the road, towards the hills, and is pretty quiet near the top of the house. All my picky personal requests catered for.I’ve met plenty of women who are nervous about travelling alone: this is the ideal safe, welcoming place for your first solo adventure!

We have been to Cumbria many times as we both love the mountains & lakes aspect & the overall outdoor adventures. This is the first time however, that we have stayed near a Town and Ambleside was beautiful. We were able to deep in & out of the Town & go a bit further afield to Langdale and other walks. The local restaurants were all so friendly & accommodating, namely Dodds & Jintana.Wordsworth Guest House itself was first class! Janet was so friendly & the room with its great views was immaculate. The breakfasts were very tasty & nothing was too much trouble. The personal touches, such as cake and wine were lovely. Stayed here for a night in April for a quick break. What a gem. Superb location, spotlessly cleanand the bedroom was extremely comfortable with a king size bed and quality toiletries.Breakfast was exceptional and an added bonus was the cake and wine. Delicious. Fabulous guesthouse! Our room - the suite - was excellent. The hosts took great pride in making our stay as comfortable as possible, including letting us have breakfast on our first morning a little later than usual,as we were out doing the local parkrun. Breakfast was superbly cooked, plus a range of cereal, yogurt, milk, jams and so on.The B&B is in an optimal position, very close to the bus station, if you're not driving. And so close to all amenities. Simply amazing.

My wife and I spent a 4 night break with Janet as host. We were really impressed with the both the Breakfast and the accomodation could not be faulted. We will definetly be returning on our next Lake District break (we go there a lot).Nothing was too much trouble for Janet.Great stay.

Just had a weekend break here. The location is a 5 minute walk into the town centre with wonderful views of the mountains in the back ground. I was greeted by Janet through into the dining room were you can find complimentary drinks and homemade treats. The room was spotless and breakfast was very ample with a good choice and fresh fruit. I would definitely go back again sometime. 😀

We came to Ambleside for a Valentines weekend, and were warmly greeted by Janet. She immediately offered us complimentary wine and home made cake! The room was perfect, it had a separate kitchen/dining area too. Bed was very comfy. Cleanliness was absolutely spot on. Definitely coming back!

Had a lovely time at the Wordsworths Guest House - 3 night stay and just a few minutes walk to the High Street - ideal for us as mobility is an issue. Very comfortable, warm, inviting, superbly clean and you couldn’t ask for more accommodating hosts. Breakfast was superb- (especially the porridge 😍). Highly recommended and I can see why guests return time after time.

DVD player and netflix.Complimentary wine and home baked cakes are always available as is fresh milk.A lovely breakfast awaits you in the morning. I’m coeliac so gluten free options were sausages , bread and cereals and even homemade cakes.Free car parking is at the back of the property.Book early to avoid disappointment as Janet has lots of returning guests.

This is my second time of staying and I’ve already booked again for next year. The breakfast was delicious and there was a wide selection which suited both me (a carnivore) and my vegetarian friend. The room was clean, comfy, tastefully decorated and warm. Janet was the perfect hostess and the extras, homemade cakes and wine are a great touch.

Excellent guest house, great breakfast, the room was very clean, our host was very helpful with information on local walking routes, restaurants etc. We were both very happy with our stay.

We travelled to this B&B as we had a wedding to attend at another hotel.On arrival we were greeted so warmly by the owners who couldn’t be more helpful with our belongings and we’re most polite people I have ever met in my life. We were shown to our rooms which were very clean,comfortable and come with all the modern TV and WiFi. The bathroom was perfect and modern….. 10/10 for the mattresses too, best sleep I’ve ever had. We notified that there was complimentary wine and cakes on arrival, the sugar boost was well and truly welcomed after a fair drive from Manchester.The hotel was quirky, homely with a very relaxed atmosphere. We was presented each morning with a full English breakfast coffee and tea on tap. There was fresh juices, yogurts, cereals and fruits to help ourselves too.The hotel is situated on the doorstep of the town which hosts, restaurants, pubs, shops and other retail. The location is perfect for exploring Ambleside and everything she has to offer.I look forward to returning and us being able to do our own thing.If you’re looking for a little gem then Wordsworths Guest is it. 10/10

So we decided to stay for a second time at this amazing place and it didn't disappoint.Janet and Stuart are warm friendly and accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. You can help yourself to a beverage and the most delicious homemade cake. Our room was very functional with everything we needed and then those little added extras to make your stay extremely comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful, the full English was big and great quality, the best fuel so you can walk in the beautiful Lakes. We have already booked for next year. We'll worth a visit, thank you.

Where do I start?Parked the car (a little early) to be met by Janet checking it was us and telling us our room was ready.Very friendly & informative chat, even pointing out the complimentary wine and cake always in the breakfast room.The room was modern and to a very high standard indeed. Bright airy and had everything we could need. On the landing were guide books, walking itineraries and a communal iron and ironing board- they had it all covered.Only a short walk to the centre of Ambleside and the main bus stop so you could get out and away easily.Breakfast was great with a choice of a Full English or maybe just eggs on toast. Rest assured whatever you chose Janet would be back to see if you needed more sausage or toast or tea. Then when you were letting it all settle Janet was there for advice on trips or things to do.The whole house is done in a very nice way with little touches everywhere.Not sure how many returning guests she has but we'll be one !Janet & Co. excellent hosts-the nicest B&B we have ever stayed in

We returned last week from a 3 night stay at Wordsworths and cannot recommend this guest house highly enough. The room was spotless, the guest house full of hand sanitizer etc for Covid, and the furnishings, bed and mattress were of a very high standard. Janet and Stuart were perfect hosts, cooking a beautiful breakfast and providing lots of extras (water, yogurts, fruit, fresh baking) that we didn't expect and really showed the level of thought and effort they put into their business. If and when we return to Ambleside, this is undoubtedly where we'll come! Thank you both

What a wonderful little guesthouse, Stuart & Janet are lovely hosts and make you feel so at home, on arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome followed by the offer of a glass of complimentary wine and home baked treats (my favourite being the flapJack) lol we were then shown to our room, No 5 which was decorated perfectly to give a light and airy feel and I can’t stipulate enough how clean & fresh everything was!Some lovely little touches as well like a mini fridge & tower fan which came in handy with us being blessed with warm weather, complimentary water was left in the fridge and plenty of hot drink facilities with a choice to suit all, after a sound nights sleep in our comfy bed it was on to one of my highlights.. the cooked breakfast! Lol a menu is offered at the table with enough choice to please everyone, I had the full English which was served to our table cooked fresh and very tasty both mornings! (I say this to stop any rivalry) lol.All in all a little gem in such a special part of the country, we will definitely return when we visit the lakes again.

Attention to detail underestimates the Wordsworth. The room (we booked the suite) was beautifully presented with many little extras. From our first phone call with regard to parking Janet could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Everything was very secure in respect of Covid and extremely clean. Large folders of walks in the area, good suggestions on where to eat (BTW - best to book ahead, with restricted seating everywhere was very busy, even mid-week),drying facilities, the walker is very well catered for!

We stayed at Wordsworth for a couple of nights at the end of our camping holiday. Janet was a very friendly host, and we felt very welcome. We had the suite room, which was very nicely furnished, and felt really comfortable. Great facilities - we enjoyed having the little kitchenette for the night we didn't want to eat out for dinner. Breakfast was yummy, and the complementary home baked cakes to help yourself to during the day were really excellent. Thanks so much for a really lovely treat to round off our holiday! :)

The Wordsworth guest house should be rated 10plus.Janet & Stuart would find it difficult to improve there standard of care. The place is immaculate, the breakfasts are superb, even providing cake and wine for the afternoon/evening and to be able to relax on the patio. Parking at the rear of the property useful, and location to ambleside and the lakes just right.

Just returned from a delightful 3 night stay at the Wordsworths Guest House. We stayed in the suite which was superbly appointed and spotlessly clean. From the moment we arrived, out hosts Janet and Stuart could not do enough for us. Where to start? Location perfect. 2 mins walk with a large south facing rear garden and large patio to enjoy the sun and a few drinks. Lovely fresh cooked breakfast with cereals and fruit. Fantastic hosts. As always, our room was spotless and Janet was her friendly, welcoming and helpful self. It is so peaceful staying at Wordsworth guest house and it is in the perfect location to allow you to plan days out in near by towns. The cakes and breakfast are a 10/10. After our first ever visit here we really couldn't wait to come back. Now we are regular visitors and come here about 3x per year. I highly recommend staying here and I guarantee you it won't be your last time visiting.

Great overnight stay on a sunny winter weekend in Ambleside. The facilities were amazing and the room had been recently refurbished and was luxurious, well furnished and lovely and warm. Janet was really welcoming from start to finish and made a generous breakfast, provided cakes and couldn't do enough to make our stay pleasant. Off road parking was bonus and the location was perfect. Can't recommend the hotel enough and will definitely return. Book direct for best price.

I was so pleased I chose to stay at the Wordsworths. The bed was really comfortable, larger than the single bed I as expecting. The bedroom itself was warm, all the toiletries were supplied and smelt devine, I had great views and everything was very sufficient for my needs. Breakfast was made to order and was delicious. The hosts were incredibly helpful and the cakes and wine which they very generously left out for us to help ourselves to were a wonderful gesture.The location was spot on too.I couldn't fault anything about my stay at the Wordsworth and would highly recommend.

This was my 2nd stay at Wandsworth's Guest House and I will definitely return. Very friendly welcome and Janet makes you feel at home with her tasty cakes - the Victoria sponge is a winner. The breakfast is always perfectly cooked and the poached eggs are always just right. The rooms are immaculately clean with comfy bedding and fresh white towels. There is also a good variety of tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc on the welcome tray.

We’ve now stayed at Wordsworth’s twice and each time it has been fantastic. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the owners are friendly. Breakfast is delicious and home made cakes and wine are always available for guests to take advantage of. There is also parking to the rear (which can be hard to find in Ambleside!) and a lovely garden to enjoy a summer evening in! Highly recommend this guest house to anyone!

This place was perfect, great location, friendly welcome, nice rooms, great breakfast and cake! They were super nice even when I set the fire alarm off (twice) by accident and really helpful with walks and transport etc. Highly recommend.

The guest house is few yards from centre of Ambleside, great for the buses which run regularly. The room had a large comfortable bed , small shower with toilet and the wash basin in the room. Janet was excellent host and totally safety conscious, sanitiser readily available.Parking is not easy it is around the back of the property my wife ran in to ask where to go as a tip if booking get precise directions to your space.Breakfast is great.

We stayed here with our 9 month old baby for two nights and had an absolutly wonderful relaxing stay. Our host Janet could not be more accommodating for us and our little one.The room was gorgeous,clean and spacious,great location only a few minutes walk into Ambleside with all the cafe's and bars nearby.Breakfast was lovely with a great choice and was even offered a small breakfast for our little one.We felt safe during the Covid-19 pandemic and didnt worry at all about distancing or cleanliness. Cakes and wine were available for you to enjoy at your leisure.We will definitely return as this has been our favourite place we have stayed in Ambleside. We didnt realise but we left one of our little girls bottles behind and this was returned to us in the post which was most kind.You will not regret your stay here, everything was 100%Amy, Paul and little Lily-May

Being gluten free and vegetarian, it can be slightly difficult for places to cater for me however not here. For breakfast there are so many options (cereals, toast, full vegetarian breakfast etc..). Not to mention the gluten free brownies ????We will of course be booking this place again and we could not recommend this place enough!

I had an excellent 5 night stay as one of the first guests after the lockdown.The Covid precautions were all as needed - I felt safe in the environment.The service from Janet was top-notch (as were the breakfasts).The good reports for this accommodation are all true.

We were the first guests to stay hereafter the Covid-19 restrictions were lifted somewhat.We were learning how to get back to normal whilst trying to stay socially distant.Lovely, immaculate guest house with amazing hosts who make cake for their guests. Every situation catered for areas for wet clothes and walking boots. Room had a fab view and the bed was seriously comfy.Ideal location to step into Ambleside which have every restaurant and pub you could want.Not all were back open but by this coming weekend I think they were.Parking for all too. We had a wonderful stay at Wordsworths guest house . The facilities were excellent the hosts made us feel very welcome and provided for our every need . The cakes Janet provided were wonderful. I cannot find any negative points . The place was impeccable. Well done for providing such a professional standard.

Superb hospitality and a winning breakfast - lean tasty bacon and the best poached eggs I've ever had anywhere. Lovely thick duvet on the bed for these cold nights. Linen and towels have a lovely fresh, clean smell. Complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits and water in the room. Quality toiletries in the bathroom. Janet was very informative and gave us some great tips for dining out and discounts on ferries etc. Homemade cakes for you to help yourself, and there was even my favourite lemon drizzle, and wine if you want it. Located in the heart of Ambleside within a few minutes walk from shops, cinemas and many eateries. Great base for visiting other towns and villages in the lakes. Faultless. Will definitely return and will pass my secret onto my friends and colleagues. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay. xx

Friendly & welcoming hosts who make you feel at home not only offering a wonderful home cooked breakfast but cakes to eat in or take away to sustain you during the day; wine also provided to ease weary bones after a day’s walking.Comfortable warm room & bed with plenty of hot water & tea/coffee available in the room. Drying facilities also available.I can’t recommend Wordsworth enough & will definitely stay again.

Arriving early in a downpour I was welcomed like an old friend. I was offered drying facilities and shown where to help myself to a selection of homemade cakes. (a slice of the fruit cake after a long walk was most welcome).My single room with en suite, was comfy and well designed, including a smart tv with Netflix.In the evening I helped myself to a complementary glass of chilled white wine, (red and rose were also available).The mattress was very comfortable and for breakfast I enjoyed fresh blueberries and pineapple followed by delicious scrambled egg and lean back bacon and a full English on my second morning.This centrally located guest house is the place to stay in Ambleside and I will be back.

Where do I start? We have just had the most relaxing weekend in Ambleside and could not recommend this guest house more. The hosts were exceptional, nothing was too much trouble, they gave great advice on local restaurants and places to visit. The room was beautifully appointed with care and attention to detail, fresh milk was provided in a little fridge along with bottled water and this was refreshed daily. There were tea and coffee making facilities with plenty of tea/coffee/hot chocolate/biscuits for the duration of our stay. The complementary toiletries were of a high standard and there were ample towels provided along with a hair dryer. The bed was super comfortable and that along with the blackout blinds/curtains ensured a fabulous nights sleep, which was then followed by an incredible breakfast! The home baked cakes (which are delicious) and choice of wine that is provided for guests to help themselves to was a lovely touch and most appreciated, as was the option to go along to the spa at a hotel within walking distance to the property.This really is a fantastic find and we can’t wait to go back. Thank you Janet to you and your family for all of your hospitality.

We booked the suite room for our stay which exceeded our expectations . It has been done out to a very high standard and we were impressed with the quality of the fixtures and fittings. Everything had been thought of and if we needed anything we only had to ask the owners who are so genuinely welcoming and friendly. There was cake and wine to help yourself from and the free spa passes were a wonderful bonus. We are already planning our next trip back.

A lovely place to stay, with an amazing freindly atmosphere, nothing too much trouble, set amid ambleside, with allocated parking on site, with all attractractions and amenities within 5 or 10 minutes walk of 3 cinemas, restaurants, cafes, shops and Amblesides ferry terminal. 15 minutes drive to Grassmere and Bowness. With a huge selection of breakfast with cake and wines left out to relax with on return. The room we stayed in was well layed out with kitchenette, sofa and small dining table for 2, ensuite shower with lovely decor, The rooms have that brand new look, The Wordsworth deserves a 10 out of 10 on every count, If you want to feel at home then Give Janet or Laura a call, highly recommended.

My husband, daughter and I stayed at Wordsworth Guest House for 3 nights. The B & B is beautifully decorated and we were made to feel very welcomed as soon as we arrived. There's parking at the back of the B & B and a lovely terrace that guests can use at any time. Janet bakes fresh cakes every day and they are available to help yourself to at any time along with red, white and Rose wine! What a treat! Nothing was too much trouble for Janet and we had a wonderful 3 days. We will definitely be returning and we can't recommend the place enough.

We chose to stay at Wordsworth’s at short notice on 10th and 11th August because of curtailment to a camping trip due to the inclement weather. We weren’t to be disappointed by this choice. We were given the large double studio for the duration of our stay and have to say it was stunning and absolutely spotless with all the conveniences we could possibly want, with fridge, microwave, tea and coffee facilities and even two tv’s!! Our hosts were brilliant and couldn’t do enough for us. There was even complimentary wine and cake on offer, and I have to say Janet’s cakes were stunning. All in all a lovely place to stay, and one which I would thoroughly recommend!!Iain and Bev.

We booked the suite room for two nights to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary as a couple.We liked the idea of the suite because we are introverts and findpeople interactions can be a little draining.The suite comprises of a small kitchenette and seating area.Our interactions prior to arrival was friendly and accommodating.The directions to the free parking were spot on and we had no difficulty in arriving.We were greeted by Janet, who was very friendly and helpful.The suite room surpassed our expectations.Being excellently furnished and having some exceptionally sumptuous carpets.The use of the kitchenette allowed us to avoid eating out every night.Gave us a space to watch TV without having to lay on the bed and provided space to play games in the evening.We were pleased to be able to make use of the DVD collection provided to guests.We are also on a journey to zero waste so the use of a fridge and crockery really allowed us to minimise our impact on the local environment.Nothing was too much trouble, including adding in breakfast should we need it.We did treat ourselves one day to breakfast, which was absolutely delicious and highly recommended.In other guest houses we have stayed at, staff have often not been aware of the needs of the guests.Being too in our faces.This has not been our experience here.We were allowed our space but also saw the staff be very attentive to people wishing to engage more.We felt so comfortable in this guesthouse that when Janet mentioned we didn’t need to rush out as the room wasn’t book for that night, we decided to stay an extra night.Location wise the guesthouse is within a very easy walk to all the amenities in the locality and less than a mile from the Ambleside pier where you can pick up the ferries for travelling on Windermere.This guest house will be on my preferred stays for years to come and will be highly recommended to anyone wishing to stay in the heart of the Lake District.

Just spent an amazing weekend at the Wordsworths Guest House. We were to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The rooms werw exceptionally comfortable, i had the best night sleep. Tea, coffee and water in the room was very welcome. There were plenty if towels, which was fantastic, as you usually never have enough. Breakfast was fab, and set us up well for a busy day. Getting back to the hotel we were greeted to sn amazing smell of freshly baked cake, believe me it tasted as good as it smelt, and with a glass glass of wine, sat in the sunshine was perfect. We will definitely be returning here, i think we have found our spot. 😁

We found Wordsworths Guest House to be the ideal place to stay in Ambleside.It is in a very central position and easy walking distance to the lake, the shops, the bus station, fell walks.The guest house has its own car park which is a great advantage in Ambleside. We parked our car on arrival and travelled by bus for trips out.All the rooms in Wordsworths are very comfortable and tastefully decorated.Janet, the owner, serves a delicious breakfast with lots of choice both hot and cold.As a kind gesture she also leaves homemade cakes and wine for guests returning in the evening which can be enjoyed out on the patio.We have stayed on 3 occasions at Wordsworths.For our recent stay, in June,we booked the king size suite. As well as a lovely bedroom there is a combined lounge/kitchenette area with sofa, tv/ microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge, table. We would pop into nearby Tesco to choose from a variety of microwaveable foods for evening meals and snacks for lunches etc.Although the suite room was slightly more expensive, we found that the difference was more than made up by not having to dine out in restaurants every evening.This room will be our choice for our next visit.Thank you Janet and family.

I fell on my feet booking in to Wordsworths Guesthouse.Not only was the view over Loughrigg Fell as fabulous as promised, the room was lovely with a great view over the garden,and the welcome incredibly warm.Generous breakfasts kept me fuelled all weekend as did the smashing flapjack; just one of the additional extras that made for a great weekend stay.

Where to start, my favourite place to stay in Ambleside by far. Jan and Stu and their daughters are fab, very friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the lakes.The rooms are a great size with wonderful views. everything is spotless, and you wake up to a wide variety of choice for breakfast.Jan has home made cakes that are too die for, and wine to wash it down. This is a gift from them to you for staying with them.I have raved on to my friends about Wordsworth guest house and they are planning on going there too.There is plenty of space to park, and it is situated right in the heart of Ambleside. I am very envious of them owning such a wonderful b&b. You can see how happy they are and this makes your stay a very enjoyable experience!

Love this place, 5 minute walk to local shops, bars, restaurants, bistros,3 cinemas, garden centre,10 Minutes from the Ambleside ferry and boat hire. On the bus routes to Windemere and Keswick. 15 mins drive max to Grassmere, Hawkshead, Bowness. This property has the added bonus of parking at the rear and a drying room for walkers & that`s just the start, on arrival you are welcomed and generally taken to your room, of which you will not be disappointed, The owners Mother & Daughter excel in making you feel at home, there`s always freshly baked cakes Wine /juice and water on offer. The breakfast is vast and i can recommend the full English! Room 6 is where we like to stay this being upgraded since our last visit to have a kitchenette style room with a couch and dining space, 2 tvs. Although this property faces the main road i don`t recall hearing traffic and have always slept very well. Value for money, looking forward to our next visit!!!!!

From start to finish the owners were very friendly, helpful and add to their property that is a fab place to stay.It is very clean, the beds are comfortable and the food is amazing.They have lots of extra touches, like wine, cake and juices for you to have after your day out walking.They have lots of books maps and local knowledge that made my weekend so much easier.Janet and Stuart live what they do and it shows in their attention to detail.

No disturbance with the traffic noise at all.Very good breakfast with vegetarian option available.Wine, freshly baked cakes, juice, yoghurt and fruit are available throughout the day and guests can help themselves with them if needed. Nice extras!Did not plan your walks? No worries, host has about 3 inches thick folder with local and Lake district walks available for you to choose from. I cannot rate my stay highly enough. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The little extras - homemade cake, free spa passes and wine on arrival - made this place stand out from other guest houses. The owners are so helpful and approachable and the breakfasts faultless with a wide selection of extras available such as herbal teas and fruit conserves. My single room was cosy with a very comfy big bed and underfloor heating in the en suite. A powerful little hairdryer and free toiletries meant I could travel lighter and I was provided with a spare towel for my trip to the nearby spa. Parking is not easy in these Lakeside towns so to have this included was a real bonus. The guesthouse is far enough away from any pubs to be quiet at night but within a 5 min walk of shops and amenities. I don't often stay anywhere twice but this is one I will certainly look forward to visiting again. Perfect for a solo traveller!

Our room was fabulous and the bed was so comfy! Everything we could think of was available, much more than any hotel we've been to in Ambleside. The breakfast was fabulous too, with a great choice. Janet went out of her way to make our stay perfect, from sending us off on our hike with homemade flapjack to calling in at Sheila's Cottage where we were dining one night to get a 10% discount card for us. We felt like we'd known her for years. We were sorry to leave!

A well presented b&b in a good position. Coming from the south there is no need to go around Ambleside’s one way system. What sets it above other b&bs are the little extras. Cake, just help yourself and fancy a glass of wine at the end of the evening?Again just help yourself.We had room 7 which has a small lounge and tv with free WiFi so one of us was able to do some work after breakfast. Poached eggs were perfect!We would have no hesitation in recommending Wordsworths.

We were made to feel welcome from the second we arrived nothing was too much. The room was lovely with amazing views. We were a group of 5 friends that stayed at Wordsworths for 3 nights in September. The rooms and the breakfast were excellent. The location is perfect as you can walk to all restaurants and shops in Ambleside. There are plenty of walking paths around Ambleside and these are also easy to reach from the Guest House. The hosts were very helpful in finding walking routes and maps and descriptions were available free of charge. The hosts were incredibly helpful and caring and offered even complimentary homemade cakes, fruit and different beverages around the clock.

The room was well decorated and furnished. Small but adequate en-suite (shower and toilet), though having the hand basin in the room separate from the en-suite was less than ideal.Good quality bedding and towels.Clean and presentable.Basic for the high price (though we did stay Aug bank holiday).The breakfast was ok.We thought that there was an odd taste to the coffee, perhaps the water filter needed descaling.Suggestions for improvements include sockets for charging phones on either side of the bed with USB ports, remodeling the en-suites to include a hand basin, ensuring the tea and coffee tray remain filled, using fresh flowers in the dining room not plastic, updating the very small TVs, and generally thinking about updating for the modern world of IT.We did enjoy our stay, and were the last guests of the current owners, who were knowledgeable, friendly and professional.Good luck to them!

What a lovely relaxing place and atmostphere. We had a beautifully decorated and presented suite on the top floor. Lovely view and we used the lounge to relax in. watch TV and read. Could have done with alonger stay. Fab breakfast with a good choice and lovely fresh coffee. My friends and I had a very enjoyable walking holiday. I was very satisfied with the room and had a comfortable and quiet stay.All the extra bedding for a second person was rather in the way when I went to bed at night.

I spent four warm nights in Ambleside at the Wordsworth Guest House.It was a relaxed base for lots of walking, which is easy to do direct from the village.Anna is an excellent host and I felt extremely comfortable coming & going as a single traveller. Breakfast was enjoyed overlooking the garden & the coffee was amazing (always a good sign in my book)!

A beautiful guesthouse, centrally placed, 2 minutes away from the town. The room was beautifully and very tastefully furnished, no expense spared, with all the necessary facilities. It was also nice and quiet, and lovely to have breakfast with the door open, leading into the garden. Anna and Paul were very friendly and helpful, too, offering lots of useful tips.

Professional hospitality in every sense done with a smile! Spa and swim offer included in b&bon longer stays at Salutation Hotel nearby, a bonus treat!

It was very welcoming, friendly and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble, and the great thing was there is parking for the car at the rear of the property.

We spent our anniversary and my husband birthday here. Room was lovely and clean.Anna and Paul are lovely people nothing was too much trouble they are full of knowledge we have booked to return with our children in the summer and we will be recommending to our friends and family little added touches such as they gave us a card for our anniversary and birthday plus when Anna came in with our breakfast she sang happy birthday to my husband with a candle in is tomatoe.

I had such a exceptional stay at this guest house. The cosy, and comfortable room was spotless, and had everything that you would expect from 5* establishments that I have stayed in, previously.The beautiful views of the landscape, The freshly cooked breakfast, (the sausages and bacon, were especially tasty). The Wordsworth is conveniently situated in Ambleside, a short walk to all the shops; restaurants, bus station, market, and cinema. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends.

Just had a super weekend in Ambleside, staying at The Wordsworth Guest house. Super location with free parking at the back, lovely hosts , beautifully and tastefully furnished with attention to detail and fab breakfasts! Will definitely return.

A warm welcome, beautiful house and room and well cooked and plentiful breakfast. The bed was comfortable, towels soft and everything spotlessly clean. Only one (slightly)negative comment. The separate room with sofa, which i think could be used for sleeping was nice and would be really handy for couples with kids but for me personally would be better as a bigger en suite with bath. The small but beautifully clean shower room space could then be used to put the wardrobe and an easy chair and there would be no need to have washbasins in both rooms. Sorry, just a little niggle. All in all we had a comfortable, welcoming and enjoyable stay.

We received a warm welcome from Anna. Our rooom was lovely. Decorated to a high standard and spotlessly clean. We met Paul the following morning who shared his passion of photography with us and passed on many useful tips for using our new camera. The breakfast was superb, resulting in two clean plates. This guesthouse was 2 min walk from the town and offered free use of nearby leisure facilities which was a great bonus. We usually stay in hotels, , shying away from B & B's. However this is one guesthouse we will certainly be visiting again and soon. We would warmly recommend this place if you want warm hospitality, comfortable rooms and a great breakfast.

the only downside to our stay was that the owner's dogs were sat in the breakfast room whilst we were eating which was off-putting particularly as people then started feeding them. Room very clean, but breakfast time a little restrictive if you're on 'holiday' only 8am to 9 am

Stayed at Wordsworths Guest House recently during a training course and it was very good. Paul is a very nice chap who does a mean breakfast. Room was nice also, very clean and comfortable.

Free complimentary swimming pool and Sona facility in nearby club . One suggestion re breakfast timings : 8-9 am is too early and should be at least 8-10 Am .

Very clean and tidy. Nothing was too much trouble and, most important for me(!) was breakfast. Yummy. The owners have found the right balance between offering privacy and chat. Parking's easy and 2 minutes' walk we were in the town centre. Didn't hear other guests when in our room.

Situated a few minutes walk from centre of town where there were numerous restaurants to choose from. Breakfast was superb and Anna catered for gluten free request. Very well situated for a tour of the lakes and beyond. Just a short stroll into Ambleside with its many Cafes and Restaurants.The hosts are very welcoming in looking after their Guests. An excellent Breakfast is provided. I stayed in the single room which provided a Queen size very comfortable bed.Very good value and would highly recommend.

Anna and Paul were excellent hosts.Paul is a keen photographer and was able to point us in the right direction to get some great shots. The off road parking at the rear of the Wordsworth Guest Houseis one of the things we really like about this quest house. The rooms are lovely and clean along with a very comfy bed. Anna and Paul could not have been more welcoming. We could not fault any of the service. The rooms (our daughter in her 50's stayed in a separate room) were clean and cosy and the beds comfortable. Breakfast freshly prepared and the "home-made" marmalade highly recommended. (Can't wait to get started on the jars we brought home!!) Although we don't walk very far ourselves, there was plenty to see locally, parks, gardens and an easy walk to a Ferry point on Lake Windermere. There was one very rainy day when we spent a great deal of time in the best garden centre we have ever encountered. (plus furniture, kitchen ware, gifts, and Christmas decorations to die for, etc etc)Upstairs there was a massive restaurant plus outdoor seating. This was within a short walking distance of Guest House. Certainly hope to return to Wordsworth Guest House.

Our return visit was once again too short. The rooms are bright large and impeccably clean. Anna is always helpful and welcoming. The guest house is in an extremely good position in Ambleside which I think is the best spot for visitors.

A very nice base run by friendly people. Functional rooms that are clean and equipped with all the expected items. Only downside for us was the shower which kept going hot and cold .Would have liked the option of a bath after a long walk but this is a guest house not a hotel and the rooms were otherwise pleasing. Breakfasts were awesome with an 'eat as much as you like' policy which we were in favour of.My only criticism -as an owl not a lark - was that breakfast finishing at 9am at the weekend was a bit early when youre on your holidays...Even so will definitely go back and will recommend to others.

Lovely Guest House close to town by walking and near to the lake where we had beautiful views of the sun set.The premises has no numbering for an address.It is diagonally opposite the BP petrol station and the carpark that is big enough is just on the right side up the one way street opposite petrol station.Anna was welcoming,helpful and asissted us with the luggage to the room on the 2nd level.Overall we had a wonderful stay in the lovely town

A lovely stay. We had an extra room with a sofa and tv which wasa great bit of extra space.Breakfast was great and my dietary needs were catered for. Having parking was a welcome surprise too.Anna was an attentive host.

This was our first stay here but will not be the last. Everything you could wish for is catered for. Excellently presented room, lovely linen. Breakfast was out of this world. Really sets you up for the day.In a fantastic position in the village, convenient for everything, good parking and excellent wi if reception.

We could not find any fault with the Wordsworth Guest House. The room was very clean and tastefully decorated, with a comfortable bed and a good shower. The location was perfect, breakfast was excellent, Anna was a friendly and helpful host and we mustn't forget to mention Titch!

Hostess was extremely helpful and friendly. Room was cozy and clean. There was floor heating in the bathroom.Overall it was a very good experience and I would highly recommend to couples.

Stayed at the Wordsworth for 2 nights with my teenage son and found everything to the highest standard. The cleanliness of the room and comfortable bed were just what we needed for our walking holiday. The delicious breakfast got us ready each morning and the under-floor heating in the en suite and drying facilities for our wet gear were very welcome touches on our return. Anna couldn't be more helpful in ensuring our stay was the best it could be and we would definitely return there in future.

Enjoyed our stay in Ambleside, accommodation of a good standard, comfie bed, nice breakfast. Lots of little extras. Bike store, drying room etc. very central. Easy access to numerous walks. Parking area a must in such a busy town.

Very clean, nice decor, excellent breakfast with home-made conserves,friendly service,bedroom v. comfortable,though would have preferred washbowl in shower room!Had upgrade to king-size room at no extra cost. No fire safety instructions in visitor info. and no 'Do not disturb' signs. Can ask for a top sheet if too warm for duvet- all guest houses need to note this, have been to so many establishments where no alternative to heavy duvet, even in summer!Car park rather small, esp. if you have a large car. Would go again!

We spent a lovely 2 nights here and were well looked after. The decision to stay here (amongst others) was the free Spa pass to the Langdale Country Club. We enjoyed swimming, jacuzzi and sauna while it was raining.Normal price is £10pp at the Spa. We loved the location, friendliness and comfort. good bacon at breakfast too!

A wonderful warm welcome from Anna on arrival whereupon we were shown to our room with twin beds and a lovely room it was! Breakfast was plentiful and well cooked with a selection of cereals, fruit and yoghurts to start, a cooked breakfast of choice to follow, tea/coffee/juice and toast with home made jam and marmalade - nothing was too much trouble.All in all an excellent stay ........... Thank you!

Thoroughly enjoyable experience, Room was spotless and the breakfast was first class.Host was very friendly and helpful , would recommend this guest house to anyone wishing to stay over.

We booked our stay last minute and were delighted with our choice.The guesthouse is located very close to the town centre, with walking distance to all shops, public houses, restaurants.Our room was spacious and elegantly decorated, with a compact but perfectly adequate bathroom with uh-so-lovely-and-warm underfloor heating.Wifi access was fairly strong and solid during both days of our stay.Our host Anna was welcoming, very helpful, nothing was too much trouble.She offered to dry our walking clothes after a wet day in the hills which was just priceless.The full English breakfast was tasty and plentiful, with delicious toast and homemade jams on the side.This guesthouse is an excellent value for money and makes for a great, welcoming base for your stay in the Lake District.We will be back!

Had a lovely two night stay at Wordsworths. Gorgeous rooms & friendly service meets great location & tasty breakfasts! Lots of choice on the breakfast menu and you don't have to wait long at all for your plate to arrive. Lots of walks in the area and within easy walking distance of Ambleside and it's plethora of restaurants. Even if the weather is grotty the rooms are so nice that you don't mind spending a few hours chilling out at the guest house. Also useful that there is off road parking although I'm not sure that everyone would fit if it got crazy busy but this wasn't an issue on a rainy February weekend! Thanks for a lovely stay :)

We stayed here for a couple of nights in February 2014 and found the perfect base for walking and exploring the South Lakes. Lovely hosts, friendly and genuinely interested in us. We had a comfortable suite (bedroom and lounge), could come and go as we pleased, private parking, excellent breakfast with home-made jams. Bonus of passes to local spa. Quiet location. Recommended!

My partner and I have spent a lot of time in Ambleside and this is one of the nicest places we have stayedWe visited out of season so it was much quieter than usual but that didn't stop the customer care and service being excellent. Our room was lovely, spacious, clean and tidyThere was no issue with us coming in late after an evening at the pub and the breakfasts were lovelyWill definitely return

We have just returned from our first stay at Wordsworths Guest House. The room was excellent and our 4 night break was made even wmore enjoyable by the warm welcome we received from Anna and Paul. The lovely breakfasts set us up perfectly for the walks which followed. we are looking forward to our next visit and would recommend the Wordsworth to anyone who is coming to Ambleside

We had a lovely stay at the Wordsworth over a long Easter weekend. The guesthouse was very clean and comfortable and ideally situated as a base for walking or enjoying an evening in Ambleside. A very nice breakfast set us up for a day in the hills and served by a very cheery lady!

Had a good 2 night stay at the Wordsworth Guest House,it was a special occasion and a bottle of wine was in the room 6 a very nice jesture. also we had the attatched room 5 which had a sofa bed/tele room to relax. Ensuite ok but took ages for hot water to arrive,and the sink is in the bedroom? not a good idea, looks like they all are in the rooms for some reason. Nice breakfast and excellent hosts.

I had a very enjoyable stay at Wordsworths Guest House.Everyone made me feel welcome without being intrusive, breakfast was delicious and Ambleside was a great base for walking and exploring the beautiful Lake District.I hope to return when I get the chance.As a solo traveller it was ideal.Top marks for the useful information folder in the room and also being able to have fresh milk for making a cup of tea -a small but important feature!
